The TikTok mom sparked controversy by speaking directly to those who criticize parents for allowing their children to use tablets.
In an honest video, Jordan Simone shared what she thinks when adults complain about seeing children using tablets. She voiced her opinion and also showed what the alternative would be if the little ones didn’t have that distraction in hand.

“If you don’t want to see little kids, babies, with their iPads at dinner, you’re going to have to accept the fact that for a while, they’re going to be loud, annoying, and even disturb you, sitting at a separate table.”
Simone is straightforward in criticizing those who often say that children should learn to behave in public places, as she believes these same people might not be able to handle a child “learning” the social rules.
In a society where more and more people complain about the presence of children, asking parents to put away the iPads means having to deal with the natural behaviors of little ones, which can sometimes be irritating and exhausting, in places like restaurants, airplanes, cinemas, and other public spaces.
“Kids can’t learn to behave in public unless they’re in public having these experiences. And that learning curve will be inconvenient and uncomfortable for you,” says Simone.
The clip generated a lot of controversy and received numerous comments that either agreed with or disagreed with Simone’s opinion.
“The problem is that parents are NOT teaching their kids to behave in public. It’s standard to give them a screen before making any real effort,” wrote an internet user who disagrees with the TikToker’s viewpoint.
But many people found the debate sparked by Simone’s post to be important; “My daughter is autistic, she struggles in restaurants with the images, smells, and sounds, the tablet helps her focus,” explained one mother.
“People forget that they go to family restaurants and expect a private dining experience,” pointed out another user.
“Adults don’t know how to behave in public but expect kids to,” complained a third.
